Salvador Dali
The Hallucinogenic Toreador
Salvador Dali ..born 1904 in Figueres Spain died 1989
Dali is one of my favouite artists, he did not limit his work to one particular style or media. He worked with oils, watercolours, drawings ,graphics, sculptures, photographs, films, jewels and perfomance pieces. His early work was part of the surrealists movement but in 1934 he was expelled from this group and moved into his classic period of work which was preoccupied with issues around science and religion.
As for inspiration for my brief around hallucination Dali is the master!

Artist
born 1972 Madrid, Spain.
Ernesto uses ink on paper to produce beautiful etchings and drawings. He limits his use of colour and often just uses just black on subtle coloured paper. He also creates sculptures useing cardboard and othe mixed media. I love his art work, it is very detailed yet appears simple because he gives it space and does not distract with bold colour .
website coming soon!

New Designers 2009

New Designers 2009
London ,July 2009
This is where design graduates get to show off their wares, hopefully people in the trade will offer work or purchase designs.
It was very inspiring to look round and the work on show was of a high standard.I do feel that the current financial climate has had an impact on the work market as none of the graduates i spoke to had secured any long term employment.
I was interested to discover that several of the graduates had not used computers in any of their work ,instead they had opted for all hand produced designers. One girl had sold her hand produced wallpaper for £800 per roll. How ever most graduates did feel that the use of cad was necessary to succeed in the industry
It was very useful to get ideas about how to and how not to display your work, some methods of display really let the work down and others were very successful.I look forward to next years show !
